What is the PSV Parent Ambassador Program?
The PSV Parent Ambassador Program allows parents the opportunity to use their leadership skills to play a central role in effectively working with educational leaders to improve the experiences of Black and Brown families in private schools. This program is essential to PSV as it empowers parents to successfully partner and advocate for children, reinforces the pride and power of community building and support, and it highlights our shared belief in a strong family-school partnership which is optimal for student achievement.
In Northern California, we are in our "building phase" and as such, the Parent Ambassador program will launch via PSV Partnering School pods. This means we are grouping schools together based on location such that Parent Ambassadors may represent more than one school in a pod of schools. Ideally each school pod has 2-4 Parent Ambassadors but minimally one administrator lead partnered with one parent.
The benefits of being a PSV Parent Ambassador include:

increased networking opportunities & visibility among the PSV community, in the school community, and with school leaders

development of leadership and advocacy skills in a small group setting

increased knowledge about DEIJ and SEL (social-emotional-learning) issues and the opportunity to engage intelligently around these areas

the many tangible and intangible benefits of helping our community and all of our children
Parent Ambassadors commit to:

Attending one virtual training session approximately 1.5 hours long

Attending up to 3 virtual meetings to touch base, prepare for various events, skill build, ask questions, etc.

Serving as a resource for prospective, newly-enrolled, and current families and throughout the year

Assisting in the cross communication/promotion and community-building aspects related to working collaboratively with their school and with PSV

Implementing PSV awereness and pride-building campaigns in school communities and across them
